National Nurses Week began May 6, 2018 and ends on May 12, the birthday of the founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale. While the very first National Nurses Week was celebrated in 1954 – the 100th anniversary of Florence’s mission to the Crimea – it was not until, Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the United States, signed a proclamation that May 6th would be known as National Nurses Day.
